Windscreen front washers

My car failed the Nct on the front windscreen washers not working ,the rear works fine and sprays out but the front doesn't, all the pipes seem fine and are all connected at the front.

It was workin fine up until recently,i just haven't needed to use it

It's not the pump because the rear wouldn't be working if it was that ?

Is there anything else i should have a look for ?

Look for a kink or break in the hose where it passes by the bonnet hinge on the O/S.

They could be blocked? If they are poke some thin wire into holes but be careful you don't ruin alignment as they will squirt over the roof.

I'm sure a lot of pumps have separate front and rear washers, my brothers S2000 has different sections of pump, one does the windscreen and one does the headlights, off the same pump/reservoir.

Pump the washers and check for leaks where the pipe is pushed onto the non-return valve(s). The pipe sometimes hardens where it's stressed by stretching over the valves. If it leaks, you can usually fix it by cutting a bit off the end and re-making the connection.

You might have an air lock. See if the washers work when the bonnet is in the up position. It might start working because the angles that the water is flowing along are different. If it starts working, then it could be an airlock caused by a leak.

Fixed it

The connecting pipe had come loose and was just spraying water out on the engine instead of doing its job
