Re: air bag
Xantia dash is a whole body (top, left, right etc) and if you search for pics "heater matrix" change you can see it's a rather headache joballanmc wrote:... how do you get the top of the dash off, ...

Yep, 'tis a dash out job
It's not bad, just long and tedious...
If you can't find it Allen, I can give a screw-by-screw removal guide as it was only a few weeks ago I did one. That was a MK1 though and for a MK2 there are detail differences but generally the job is the same..
The biggest bugbear is removal of the windscreen scuttle...
I'd try everything else before removing the dash...

Since I don't have a passenger side airbag I never had to deal with the BSI but the glove box, YES
I had to get it out so that I was able to change the mobile phone hands free device.
It's easy job, just unscrew the T20 screws which have a soft hat around them. When all screws are
done, pull the glove box (I have 2, lower and upper) out and it will have enough gap above to reach things behind.
Is the BSI some where behind, I don't know that
Edit: Above description may not be valid for a Xantia with passenger side Airbag.
I guess Airbag unit MUST be more firmly fixed then a upper glove box
