Xantia Ram Leakoff Collar

Post by addo »

It only dawned on me today, whilst shovelling away green snow to progress on my steering rebuild, that the ram's leakoff collar (same part number as for an XM) points the wrong bloody way for a RHD car!

No flaming wonder the silly thing is twisted into a hairpin bend which ultimately causes it to crack at the spigot base... So - Handy Hint: Remove the ram leakoff collar on RHD cars, and refit pointing other way. Also punch a drain hole in the plastic "condom" that covers the ram extension, at the base of where it meets the leakoff collar.

Small details, that eventually add up to less stress on the return system.

I've noticed the same Adam.. Bloody stupid isn't it..

What's all this about green snow? Is it snowing down your way then? Bit late isn't it....

One tip, don't eat green snow...

No snow really - just feels like it with unseasonal cold.

Everyone is running scared of the weather now; we fear it's going to be cold, cold, cold then BAM! 38° every day and 28° all night right through February, with no transition period inbetween.

I carefully cleaned the cracked leakoff spigot with silicone and refitted the right way around.

Yea, I know what Aussie cold is like. I once recall 17 degrees in Darwin...

It was bloody freezing!

We had to dig out long unworn jeans and sweatshirts

Still very unseasonably warm here in Blighty but it's been a tad windy which has taken the edge off a bit but still just teeshirt weather...

8°C here yesterday - got my car back so I know what the temperature is again :)
Haven't ventured out yet today but I expect no increase.
