Fiamm Air Horn Question

Under the compressor endcap, I found this spring laid sideways on a felt block. It's in the path between air intake (lower elbow in picture) and compressor vanes.



A one-off? Two compressors dismantled had exactly the same arrangement. Seems an odd way to employ a spring - was there a service document or is it some form of running revision by the factory?

In the absence of any reasons to do otherwise, I reassembled as found.

The motor end was overhauled with new oil in the porous bushes and corroded brush springs replaced with a mint pair, taken from a horn broken at the compressor end. I carefully cleaned/dressed the compressor end, sealing the cap with a bare hint of ThreeBond 1211.

Result! It's loud all right.

The term batty can mean something else, lucky 36v and the make is mentioned, because the person who posted this on Amazon, is not able to get their point across in a very clear manner!
