Factory supplied Xantia Alloys quastion.

Unread post by aerodynamica »

Hi all, simple question: do the factory 15" alloys for the Xantia (those fitted to VSXs) need special wheel bolts? (or can the same bolts as used for the steel wheels be used with no ill effects or dangers)

Best,

Graeme 8-)

Ideally they should have the alloy wheel style bolts, with the washers on them as the ones for steel wheels might not seat correctly.

As Chris says they do require different bolts with a washer, standard steel wheel bolts are also too short for thicker alloy wheels.

Some (I think pre-97) VSX alloys use countersunk bolts, but these are still a different length to those used for steel wheels.

Using countersunk bolts on wheels intended for flat olts would probably damage the wheels.

Hi Graham

I forgot to give you the wheel nuts to go with the wheels, I thought I had but I when I got home from the CXM they were still in the boot! :(

I you're in Cambridgeshire any time you're welcome to have them?

Hi Mark, cheers! Not sure I'll be in your neck of the woods any time soon but the wheels are still short of tyres anyway!
