Another Xantia Heavy steering..

Post by Ref »

as the title says this's pretty much the problem, i checked the pipes looks like nothing's wrong with them, i'm gonna change the LHM and clean the filters, the car rises fine the STOP light goes off within seconds, I changed the accumulator Sphere couple of thousand KMs ago.
There's a buzz that comes from the Hydraulic pump when turning the steering wheel but only when i'm standing close to it.
What else should i look for?

Thanks

You may need to remove the feed to the pump from the reservoir and prime that manually. A bit of a juggling act.

Never having had to do it personally I wouldn't like to say more than I have but there is a description among Jim's treatment of the hydraulic system somewhere.

Essentially detach the feed to the pump from the reservoir and fill it with LHM then refit to the reservoir - sounds easy but I know from the descriptions given by others that it can be arduous.

Hard to say without being there, can you check the return lines into the reservoir and see if LHM is circulating?

That's OK, Jim uses it as hair conditioner :)

The only thing that occurs to me now is that the bleed valve is not seated properly and is preventing system pressure being attained.

Does the STOP light extinguish and do the brakes operate normally?

the STOP light doesn't go away at all and there's no brakes at all.

You didn't remove the 12mm bleed bolt from the regulator did you?
