maybe you have a failing spark plug or coil pack,

try opening the fiuel cap and hear if air goes rushing in.
Could be now that its getting colder the air in the tank is pulling the fuel out of the pump ect. Because most of the breathers on the tank are blocked up.

i shall confess my first thought was ht leads / spark plugs but i thought it would do it all the time rather than just on a cold engine bay?

check the porcelain section of the plug's are clean,

if dirty this will colect damp which could cause a missfire till it warms up,
this will also cause the coil pack to break down if left to long,
