clutch cable

Good afternoon to all,

I have just had a look at removing the cable from my Xantia.

Question are all the aftermarket cables for my model of xantia NOT fitted with the cable adjustment nuts.

According to citroen services the cable is fitted with nuts!!!

The auto-adjusting cables don't have nuts (but I've shimmed one with slotted washers before now!) You can ID an auto cable by the 'lump' in the middle - manual cables are plain, and do have nuts.
Which is correct for your particular Xantia depends on the exact model. I'm not sure if you can interchange them, though.

EDIT: Come to think of it, you do need the correct cable, as the clutch pedals are differently biased, if nothing else.

That has clarified that issue. I have bought the right cable

Now to remove it from the the bearing release lever.

TBH, I'm not sure if that Xantia HDI 90 uses a push or pull clutch (someone here will tell us soon).

The only difference from the point of view of changing the cable is whether the moving release arm is coupled to the inner cable or the sheath - this should be easy to see (the 'non-moving' part of the cable is, of curse, anchored).

Either way, it's just a case of pushing the moving arm and the fixed anchor ooint towards each other; a heavyish job, but easily accomplished using a suitable lever, or something like a G-cramp.
