I've managed to fix the window regulator one more time. everything seemed to be OK, but than, after a few times of using the d**n thing, the cables snaped again. the drum with the grooves seems to be good and so are the cables. is there a reasone why? can you suggest how to fix it once and (almost) for all?
Thanx.

The window being askew in the tracks might cause too much strain on the mechanism, you need to check that it moves up an down freely in the tracks but also that it is not too loose, if it's too loose the corners can dig in to the felt lining effectively putting a brake on.
Also check that the track lining is smooth with no lumps to cause undue drag on the glass.

Hi
I've check the tracks as I was advised. they seem to be OK. the window slides up and down freely. what I've seen is that somebody "modified" the cable tensioner, as you will be able to see in the pic attached and I think that this might be the source of the problem. if any of you have a picture or a sketch of the original part, that will be a great help.
Thanx.

Thats not correct, the tensioner should be sprung loaded the other way. From memory of doing mine a few months ago the long tail on the spring should locate in a postion on the vertical rail.
