Would These Look Any Good On A Xantia?

Unread post by Ross_K »

I spotted these on my local free ads site.

I'm in two minds as whether or not to buy them or not.

Dunno if these would suit a Xantia, soI'm leaning towards not.

Still, they're a bargain. €200 for a set of four new unused Citroen alloy wheels?

Going by the part number these are "Vesuve" 15" wheels for a Xsara.

So what do you think? Buy em and bang them on the Xantia, or pass?

Personally i dont think they'd suit! Bit like bx alloys on a Xant, designed for a curvyer car than the Xant, look great on the xsara mind, but the Xant needs a little moret angular lines on a wheel,
the bx alloys were designed for an angular car and suit it well, but on a Xant mthey look out of place as are too angular! The xant is the start of tje gentle curves in design and as such needs a wheel to suit!
After All, I am the Cornish one!

Yeah I think you're right. The seller said he'd bought them for a Berlingo, and that they didn't look right on there either.

I'll hang on to that 200 quid burning a hole in my pocket. :D

I'd be tempted simply because they are OEM and therefore shouldn't affect insurance - plus they are brand newies and won't be kerbed, warped or otherwise bent. To restore four Xantia alloys will run well over 200 squid.

Yep, true. Thinking about it, four new steel wheels would cost me 200 quid from a dealer. I think I'll have em and stick on four snow tyres for the winter. 8-)

I don't like them, not even on Xsaras - they look too far in the arches on Xsaras. They might look better on a Xant ... I have seen a Xantia with the Xsara Picasso Exclusive wheels (I suppose they could be called pepper pot wheels, lots of round holes) and that did look very good.

I was tempted to try my 16" C5 SE wheels on my Activa but im OEM all the way and they would not be right!

Your Xant is an Activa and so very nice wheels which suit them very well, I would get them restored and just enjoy the original wheels 8-)

To be controversial...i think they would look ok...and like Addo says they are an OE fit wheel so no wobbles etc.

Personally i like to keep a car OE standard nowadays.....why not take your money and refurb the wheels you have? They will come out as good as new like those ones

The standard wheels are in great nick - they don't need anything done.

I was looking for wheels to put snow tyres on for the winter when I came across them.

I think I'll just buy a nice cheap Alfa 147 instead, and slide that into a kerb or telephone pole this winter... Less controversial for sure.

Ill be running winter tyres on my C5 this year, it will be interesting to see how much difference they give.

If you want a great performing winter car, buy something with skinny tyres and a petrol engine for warming up fast

If it's possible to get a set of four centreless Citroën alloys properly straightened and repainted in the UK for 200 quid, please tell me where and I will post my wheels off tomorrow week.

I haven't run snow tyres before, but after last winter I think it could be worth the investment.

Now that Ireland is an IMF-run third world banana republic you can't expect the councils to be bothered gritting or clearing snow...

Absolutely. I certainly wouldn't put them on mine, but I've seen much, much worse on a Xantia. I think these are OK if you have an old seen-better-days wheels on at the moment. €200 seems a fair price tbh. And they are Citroen wheels, not Shandong specials
