407 Gas Pedal to Throttle not Responsive

Unread post by mask »

Guys,

Need some help from anybody experienced this before or anyone with answers.. :(

The ride is a 407 SW 2.0A petrol yr 2005.

Lately the car behaves with a delay of 4 to 5 secs whenever the gas is press before really stating to move. It seems like there is a delay in response between the gas pedal & the throttle. Is something wrong with the pedal sensor or the throttle sensor itself ? How to check the throttle sensor ...where is it located ?? :(
I am getting annoyed with this delay thing already..

Help/advice is most welcome...

Thxs.

If the 407 is like the petrol C5, start by squirting the motorised throttle spindles, then unplug the EGR valve, item 1 at top.
The display will soon say anti-pollution fault and after reconnection mine took several weeks for the fault indication to clear.
No throttle sensor, a pedal sensor only and made mostly of two magnets with nothing to go wrong, and sitting under the fuse box in front of the master cylinder.

& unplug EGR (no. 1 electro valve, below pic), then re-plug the EGR or leave it out ??

Sorry, I should have explained that properly.

The EGR valve should be left unplugged while driving to find if it affects the delay.

I squirt with WD40 because I’m stingy but carburettor and contact cleaners are better.
I’ve bent the tip of the squirting tube so as to squirt at an angle.
I got some benefit from also squirting the spindle from the outside behind the throttle return spring.
Nothing of interest inside the plastic cover, there’s the throttle motor with no access to the spindle.

Clogzz,

I did un-plugged the EGR connector this pm but unable to start the car at all... :(

I did resprayed the EGR connector with WD40 & reconnect it back since there is nothing much i can do with the connector disconnected
& did noticed a slight improvement only....

i was eyeing/aiming for that grey VDO plastic cover as well

i will do the throttle squirting tomollow & see how it goes !

cheers & thks for the explanation mate !!

If the car never starts with the EGR valve unplugged, it must be that those devious rats  made it like that since to prevent driving without it.
You can unbolt the valve to blank it off with a piece of thin metal from a drink can.
EGR valve topic in the link below, but only the blanking stories apply because the valve there is vacuum-operated:

Hi Cloggz

Finally have the time to blank off the egr valve from a cutout biscuit can....
CEL light (deppolution system faulty) turn on just 1 day after the job, been driving close to 1000kms, fuel consumption decrease a bit from 7.6 to 8.3 km/lt.. =D>

i guess plenty of nox will throw the CE'L on ??

You reckoned the CEL light will stay on forever or gone after the system adapt itself ?

Lovely little bodgie there with the bikkie tin.

The anti-pollution fault indication will stay on for as long as the valve is blanked off.
It will clear at the third restart after removal of the blanking plate.
The indication is caused by the ECU testing the EGR valve when coasting, when the vacuum is high.
The ECU opens the EGR valve to see if the MAP sensor will feel the drop in vacuum caused by the opening.
If it consistently doesn’t sense any drop after a number of cycles of whatever, it will indicate the fault.

The Nox won’t be too bad, the EGR valve is only meant to open when driving on the flat under light load.
The Nox cannot cause the fault indication, only the MAP sensor can do that from sensing the vacuum.

It’s interesting that the consumption has improved.
EGR is just a decoration, the output of Nox is increased but it’s more diluted.
