Interesting Detail - Peugeot 605

Post by addo »

I've just been cleaning up a V6 subframe for my parts stash, and notice it's stamped with both the lion and the Talbot logo side by side - but no chevrons.

Sure this part wasn't used on the Tagora, since that was RWD north-south layout. So - I wonder what they were thinking?

On PSA Pugs of that era Adam, it was common to see the lion and the Talbot T together on most components but not everytrhing had the chevrons in those days. Citroen was still viewed as being, well Citroen...

My old Pug 205s had the lion and the T on everything but chevrons hardly anywhere...

Certainly there was nothing of the 205 used on any Talbot... In fact It did not even have any relationship to anything Talbot; rather more it was originally a Simca design....

I suppose it puzzled me because the "T" logo stuff on the 405 also frequently has chevrons, and it's older.

They must've had a crotchety old toolmaker ex-Talbot who was either overlooked or too good for sacking.

I have seen the same on a bracket on my 1990 Xms. Lion and T but no Chevrons. It was holding a suspension part, I can't remember which.

One of the four "hanger" braces between the subframe and chassis horns?

I think you're forgetting the Samba, although arguably that was more of a shortened Pug 104 than a Talbot in many respects. That shared petrol engines with the early 205s.

At one point in the late '80s my family owned a 205, a Samba and a Citroen BX with basically the same engine in each but the 205 & Samba had only the lion & T markings on components while the BX parts had only the Citroen chevrons on them!

Grind up your own punch Adam and give em a good stamping of Chevrons

Our subframes are crying out for an acid bath and and hot dip galvanising methinks.
