Stop warning lamp

Post by lexi »

My STOP lamp on dash is staying on along with the led on temp gauge. It goes off after 5mins but does the same on restart. I changed battery and that is when it seemed to start doing this. Suspension goes up and down from start up and fluids are ok.

It is MK2 V6 Xantia. Was there supposed to be a procedure of disconnecting battery on the MK 2?

You have a fault in either the sensors (blue green or maroon), wiring or one of the control modules.

It used to be (it might still be) have a diode in the line so it would also illuminate with the low water / oil pressure / brake fluid (LHM in this case) on most PSA models, I think this persisted until multiplexing. I guess the idea being you have another 'warning' if the primary bulb is out.

Not so sure on low coolant or low LHM triggering the temperature dial light.

STOP light, sure but I don't think there can be backfeed to the temp gauge redlight.

Us poor buggers in Oz have the siren alert as well; driving on the motorway with marginally low LHM and the alert going off now and then, is really irritating!

It does - mine is losing water out of the aux heater that I cooked when bleeding it after changing the cambelt, so the light comes on when I need to top it up. Fortunately though, no siren here

No Adam..............only thing in sump was black black oil badly needing changed. Effin PO's...........should be lined up and shot!

Got a few flickers from light when out with car last night so I aint out of woods yet. It seems to run slow and nearly stall when cold so something else could be going on here.

Needs Lexia.

PO's ???

V6's are prone to the header tank splitting and loosing the the coolant that way.

I have the header tank on the other V6 rivetted together

PO's are previous owners. They are usually lazy and and think their car is up to date and serviced " because it has an MOT" They don't paint their houses either and the garage is full of rubbish and old bikes. Keen golfers and cheap package holiday enthuisiasts are the worst IME.

They are just "soooooo busy" and don't have the time you see

I suppose you'd be happier if they stomped their hooves all over the nice old slates when painting their chimneys? :P More work for you!
