hub nut size

on the front hubs of a xantia (i presume they are all the same, if not its for a 1998 activa)

I've had a 1 3/8 (12 point) socket on there - maybe it's just sloppy enough to make the extra mil?

For reasons best known to PSA it's actually 35mm.... A 36 six pointer will fit OK.

Ah, actually 35mm is pretty close to 1 3/8" AF so that's probably it. I wonder if the thread is actually an imperial one???

I said 36 as that was the only socket I could get to fit....

35 real size as already said..

Chris, be warned that those nuts can be FT sometimes.

Use a steelie wheel to provide a torque counter if the handbrake won't hold when trying to undo the nuts.

If you do use the handbrake and the wheel is off, do replace the wheelstuds or you'll shear off the small grubscrews holding the disc on...

i have to say i've always found them to be a lot less tight than AX/Saxo ones...

Chris, where are you?

I've got a 3/4" drive 35mm socket on the end of a 4ft torque wrench you're welcome to borrow.

Me and Kev also roughly tested its calibration using his XM hub nut and it is very well calibrated so useful for doing them up again.

If they're really tight, you can set things up so that the bar is against the ground, then drive slowly in the appropriate direction - that shows them who's boss...

i usualy tap a large old screw drive blade into one of the vent slots in the disc (not to hard a tap either ) , and as Sir Jim says wind a couple of wheel bolts in most of the way,

this way you dont have to worry about the wheel turning,

Chris,

I've had my hub nuts off :wink: my xantia very recently and I used my breaker bar with scaffolding pole 6' to loosen them. I used the car wieght as the counter balance. This has never been a problem.
