zx whine

Hi,, my 1995 zx diesel. when traveling up through the gears, I hear a whining sound, reminiscent of a morris minor ! anybody got any thoughts.+ the clutch makes a whirring sound when depressed, many thanks. cheers Terry .

If it changes in pitch when you change gear it will be from the gearbox, the first thing to do would be to check the oil level.

Any whine in my car is usually the missus. :wink:

I"ve checked the oil level and it"s fine, might need changing though . anybody got any other ideas ? cheers Terry .

It will probably be a noisy bearing, you have two options, 1. remove gearbox and fit new bearings, 2. put up with it. :wink:

I have tried these whine stopping additives, never found one that works.
