fuel pressure sensor

Unread post by deano1970 »

ok guys. sorry to post in here again but this one is quite urgent if anyone can help. ok, my fuel pressure sensor has gone on my 406 2.0hdi.... thing is they are best part of £150 new. I have found one on e bay and rang the guy who said it came off a 90 bhp, mine is 110.....he said that might not make a difference but I do need the part numbers to match....What I want to know is, is there anywhere I can check the fuel sensor part number I need for my car? he has supplied one on e bay and if they match, I can save well over a hundred quid. but how do I know if it's the right one. I know the part number is on the sensor but I would have no idea where to find it and the guy said it would need to be removed(probably) to see the part number, so,can I match up the numbers anywhere on the net?? want to buy it as soon as poss if it's right....thanks for any help,dean......

Service.citroen only lists one rail pressure sensor for the Xantia, regardless of 90 or 110 BHP - 19207R originally, now replaced by 1920SZ. Same part is listed for all 2.0 HDi Bosch injected C5s - no separate pressure sensor is listed for Siemens systems. So provided you have a Bosch system, then it looks like a sensor from any other Bosch HDi should fit

(DW10ATED and DW10TD) 19207R 01DIESEL HP SENSOR

That's all I can see listed for a 406 but I'm not 100% sure if there's more elsewhere etc, my data is well out of date now unfortunately.

I can confirm the sensors are the SAME on 110 and 90bhp engines, as they ARE all the same - infact the WHOLE fuel system on a 90 and 110 is the same, I know this from an engine swap..

I removed a factory 110bhp HDi engine as the head had gone, and fitted a HDi 90 bhp engine but I swapped JUST the turbo and inlet manifolds to make the 90 a 110bhp engine

The engine which had done 105k in 90bhp form, has now gone to 256k in 110bhp form, so 150k in 110bhp... NO injector problems, NO fuel rail problems, the Engine pump packed up, at some 80k miles later, but thats one of those things...

The engine is still strong as ever...!

It only seems like yesterday you were posting about that. That's a terrific mileage in a short time; a taxi perhaps?

fuel pressure sensor, making more problems for myself??

Unread post by deano1970 »

I have just been having a look for this sensor. found it, and although with only taking off one fuel pipe off the filter, managed to get hold of the connector and it came off in my hand.I plugged it back in thinking I had fixed it. but no, so I traced the wire down and there is a yellow connector that was really loose to touch,in fact it was that loose it just came away from the fixing in my hand.Anyway I put it back best I could,it's like a push in grommet thing, but its plastic and some broke so it won't go back in properly, shouldn't be a big problem. Thing now is, it is running on a second or so when I turn off engine. I have read that this is due to a faulty sensor and the pressure is being lowered so as not to damamge the fuel system( that is a vague description as to why) anyway,I don't think it's running on because I dislodged the yellow connector although I cannot be sure. Anyway,I have a new sensor on order and should be getting it fitted on monday so we shall see if this fixes the pollution fault/running on of engine....Why do these things have to be so complicated?? all the best, dean

fuel pressure sensor 406 2.0hdi?

Unread post by deano1970 »

ok pepople, not been here for a while, just thought i'd update you. The anti pollution fault has disappeared. I found where the sensor was and connected the wiring plug properly, fault remained. I put redex in and some stp injector cleaner in in the meantime. Day after plugging in connector properly and spraying with wd40 along with a good spray to the yellow connector that traces down from the sensor wiring, no fault?? been off for two weeks now. guy at garage not happy as it was a specially ordered part, but I am not paying £150.00 to have a part fitted that doesn't need fitting? seems like a happy ending for me? fingers crossed.... :D

Hi Dean,

I have seen your posts and was wondering how you go to with your solution, I have had to put in my second new one in 12 months and if the WD40 works I will try it as £100 is just too much for a small piece of kit.

I have been wondering if the problem is using Supermarket fuel which is supposed to have less additives whcih may be halp to keep these items clean and or working.

Any one else have any ideas?
