Head Bolts ??

Post by wotwot »

I had a look on fleabay for head bolt sets for a 1905cc xud diesel and sellers on there seem to like selling individual bolts WTF.
Anyone got a recommendation for head gasket and bolts suppliers.
And to make it easier for them should i give engine numbers rather than reg number details as engines do get changed ?.
Are gaskets and bolts the same on turbo and non turbo.
Should I be using male or female torx bolts as it looks like there are both types.

The male torx bolts are DW8, XUD's have normal torx (after about 89 I think) or normal bolts before that.

I'd get on engine number personally.

Gaskets are not the same as far as I know. Watch out if buying one for an earlier model as there is such a thing as a 1.8XUDT as well...

Thanks Andy,I've seen the 1800 thing come up what engine was that one.
Was it the 68hp one be lucky to pull the skin off a rice pudding with that one LOL.
Interesting about the fact that they are different turbo and non turbo, thought they would be the same.

Could not find a picture easily ! , although these sort are the ones you're after:

Note that's probably not an XUD bolt, but that style of head.

female torx bolt, mine are currently male torx but does it matter i suspect not.
Hopefully someone will come up with a good supplier or two this evening.
What was the 1800 used in.
These seem a good price?.

I think just the head is different, although the first link is like the pic I posted and the same as I fitted to my 205. The second link look like DW8 ones, but I've not seen a Citroen XUD for ages (years) so not sure.

Just found this is it a misprint or maybe he thinks they are worth the extra money.
10 bolts and the gasket cost would make it a costly repair to any engine.

Dont see many of them for sale now.
was the 1905cc based on this engine or was it a new design after the 1800cc.

309TD was 1.8 / 205TD was 1.8, early (pre 92 or 91) 405TD was 1.8, probably early BX's were too. :)

309 + 205 lacked intercooler too.

All BXs TDs were 1.8 (Citroen badged it 1.7...!) Seemingly a better engine than the 1.9 - always easier to start, and more free revving - the 1.9 produces a bit more torque, hence its use in later / heavier cars.

Head gasket job on a BX TD (which they ruined for fun!) was not for the feint hearted
