Sphere compatibility

Just a quick one i've been thinking of ... what exactly are the differences between hydractive and non-hydractive spheres?

Is it purely down to damping ie size of the damper hole, larger on non-hydractive or are there any other subtle differences?

Reason i ask is that my MK1 Activa needs some spheres swapping into the fronts. I have a set of hydractive front spheres which are slightly underpressured and smaller damper hole, would these be suitable?

Does anyone know if GSF are still stocking fronts for the Activa, used to be part number N45335 but has since changed and i cant find them any more on the 'new' GSF site.

There's very little difference between Hydractive spheres and Activa ones fitted to the struts, you'll struggle to notice any difference in how the car drives.

Still wondering which spheres GSF actually do still stock.

Their part numbers are all skew-wiff (?) these days so its not that easy to spot.

Had reason to call at GSF Liverpool this week. They tell me Vince has moved back to the GSF branch at (I think) Trafford Park, Manchester

Luckily GSF are not too reliant on web based business yet. Its old fashioned man power that brings in the business. Thats the danger of heavily web based businesses....any problems and your turnover takes a whack.

Yes im now back running the Trafford park branch although ive been off for the last week.

As far as i can recall, GSF only now stock the rear spheres for the Activas. I wont go into why but i brought a robust argument to the table last year and didnt get anywhere im afraid.

Listen to Richard though on compatability of other spheres...he has done extensive testing of different types being fitted which persuaded me to fit non hydractive fronts onto the front of my VSX. Gave a better ride and you cant tell any difference...honestly

I think it reacts something like 1 second slower when switching over...not that you notice

You can always get your original ones re pressurised at Pleides or Westroen in Manchester if they are still going.......

I might give them a bell tomorrow to see if they are still trading

New number for GSF hydraulic stock info is 0161 876 0466...ie GSF Trafford = Vince

Good you're not taking it personally.

I have found it disappointing that we can't show respect for the effort you put in here, by purchasing more stuff online with GSF.
