More than likely the ultrasonics are playing up. Set the alarm with the ultrasonics disabled (not sure how as I know absolutely nothing about the C5 but the handbook should tell you) and see if the alarm still goes off...
This is a very common problem on the Xantia.

According to my handbook, switch off the ignition and press the volumetric button - to the left of the radio volume control - for at least one second.
Warning lamp will be permanently lit (starting to flash as the alarm is armed)
Deactivation will only be effective if the alarm is armed within five minutes of the deactivation instruction. (beyond which time the warning lamp will go out)
Deactivation of volumetric protection is automatic in the following cases:
More than 10 deployments during a single standby period.
The request for partial opening of the windows is received from the remote control)
