Saxo loosing power

A frinds car i have been looking at has a problem of loosing power, He drives along then looses power he takes his foot of the throttle and a second later will go back to normal.
He has changed oil & filter,plugs , leads i think and i have changed the fuel filter, I am at a loss of what the fault can be ??????
The car is a 1999 mk1 saxo 1.1 sigle point injection .

Is it misfiring when it looses power?

If so, suspect the coil.

I have nt been in the car when it happens but i have been wondering about coil pack.
