ZX strut top (thrust) bearing

Post by mipster »

I need to change the o/s strut top bearing on the girlfriends 1.9D ZX.
Having already done the n/s with reference to the h*ynes manual I was wondering if there is any need to remove the strut or if it's possible just to compress the spring in-situ?
I'll be replacing the drop link at the same time.
Cheers,

I did one about 5 or 6 years ago, can't remember having to use a spring compressor, but then I can't remember alot of crap I've done from years ago.
Didn't take leg completely off car though, I can remember that much.

I did it yesterday,
No need to take the strut off the car, but spring compressors are needed.
I changed the anti-roll bar drop link while I was there sinece it was bent. That sorted the tendance of the car to 'pull' and feel generally imprecise in the steering.
