No intermittant wipers

The fathers Laguna I (2000) has a wiper issue. The intermittant setting has packed in. Higher speed settings work. Trying to ring him there to check if the washer jets are still working but typically he's not answering. So as it stands all I know is the intermittant isnt working. It's like that a while now and its due to be tested so I have to get it sorted.

Any ideas?

EDIT. OK, washers are working so its just the intermittant that isnt.

Could just be a fuse! On those older cars you can hear the circuit "click" on and off as the wipers start and stop. Have a look for a fuse with the symbol of the wipers and a number 1 below it.
