I was sent this link last night, it looks quite handy.

http://www2.carparts-cat.com/autoxs/vrm.aspx?SID=

You enter your registration number and it comes back with the VIN and several other details (fewer details for older cars). Useful for when you need to order something and it's not convenient either to look for the V5 or look at the car.

Handy for stalkers. :?

You punch in the registration, get a key cut off the VIN and then leave a bouquet (or other item of choice) on the front seat...

There's a reasonable lookalike in the wings. Almost kosher, too. :wink:
