I wonder if my temperature gauge circuit board has dry joints as mentioned in the fuel gauge post below?
The gauge doesn't move until I thump the dashboard - then it behaves normally until the end of the journey. When I start up again, even if just a few seconds later, it doesn't move again until the dash thump treatment.
Thanks for any suggestions.

The other possibility is the tiny nuts holding it to the PCB itself need tightening up (only slightly) as these form the contacts.
Vibration can work them loose, although it does not seem to happen too often on PSA cars, other makes (I won't mention names) I've seen it happen quite frequently.
