Well I'm possibly trapped in Sandy.
Pulled up outside the bank to drop some well needed dosh in and the gearstick went floppy.
Had a look, got my shirt mucky, and it's 2454F7 that has popped off it's ball socket.
If memory serves, this did it before (but it may have been another one) and Jim glued it back into place. If so it's done a bloomin' good job.
I've managed to velcro cable tie it into place, and so far so good, fingers crossed I'll get home ok!
Will call the stealer in a bit and order a replacement.

I thought for a moment that 2454F7 was a new naughty word..Xac wrote: it's 2454F7 that has popped off it's ball socket.
I thought we replaced the one we glued. We may have replaced it with a scrappy-sourced one. Been so long the brain has forgotten now...
The ballcups do wear so getting a brand-spanker is not such a bad idea.

The XM lost gear selection a few months when the wife was driving, unfortunatly I wasn't well at the time so couldn't go out, she called the AA and the nice man put a cable tie round one of the ball joints which I have since replaced (the joint) it transpires that this joint had been held together with a cable tie since before I bought the car two and a half years ago. Seems to be quite an effective repair method

Ordered, just under £20
I'm sure its a scrappy one we fitted Jim.
Will have to dive under tonight and use proper cable ties.
