July 17th 2011 - French Car Day *NEW* South Wales

- Seeing as Bastille day isn't actually a holiday here, this is the closest practical date.

I intend to show the blue 605 as a concours entrant - won't win, but will probably be the only one of this model. Weather forecast is a bit "English" with cloud and possible showers. Temps in the high teens.

Looking forward to it, although there is some cleaning (outside only) required between then and now!

See you there then - or perhaps not :D

Have a great day though, fingers crossed for the concourse.

Was a reasonable day.

The Peugeot club basically run this show; I had them checking the car's badges at the gate when I insisted it was an XM (a Citroën club official - who knows my sense of humour - helping them, found this very funny).

Apparently there is no "6" category, and they were not named as contestants in any of the other categories like 406 or 505s are. So if one has a 604/5/7 it's a non-Peugeot, and to paraphrase our resident sweaties, I spent $10 (entry fee) for nothing...

There will be pictures on that other website but to summarise, one first front ID, a good swag of late Dees, a Safari, two Xantia (one a UK import diesel), an XM, a few newer Clios, pair of R8Gs, three R5s, a 15, nice Frégate, two 16s, handful of 406 in D8, D9, estate/saloon/coupé guises including a super-late D9 coupé with the faux 407 snout. Plenty of 306s, a few 205s, pair of 404 bakkies, a tidy 403 estate, Simca Vedette Beaulieu, and a lone something-or-other else (looked like a DHC Matra Bagheera).

Total number of entries probably around sixty-seventy; a little down due to the average weather but rain graciously held off until the awards and raffle goodies were exhausted. As a FYI, pickled eggs are extremely rare here and thus not seen.

Cheers, Adam.

Frankly I'd have a falafel roll in preference to pickled eggs, anytime!

If I wanted finger food (more or less) for beer drinkers, I'd put out a plate loaded with quarters of fresh pita bread then furnish tubs of antipasto and Greek salad. We have a very strong divergence from UK chippy/pub fare here.

I'm on P3, just to the right and slightly up of centre - look for PRV car with bonnet up! Me mate Garth is suitably obscuring the nearside front corner dent. :P
