radius arm bearings

Hi, someone told me today, that it would be better in the long run if I change the whole radius arm, not just the bearing. because its a pig of a job! Iam wondering about the cost of theses arms !! surely the bearings are cheaper ? any ideas ? cheers Terry .

No too bad a job, changing the bearings in each arm adds about 1/2 hour a side to the job. If you have a spare set of arms I guess it takes the pressure off a bit to do the bearings first and then change the arms over. Cost wise arms + bearing are going to cost more than just the bearings.
Access to a wilder makes getting the old bearing race out of the arms so much easier.

it realy depend's on you mechanicing skill's/abilaty to how easy or hard you make this job,

there are lots of threads already on hear for this job which you should be able to find with a little search,

The welder is to remove the bearing outer ring from the arm. Run a ring of weld round the inside of it and when it cools it will shrink and come out fairly easily.

i usualy just run two short beads of weld at opposite sides of the inner race, but i do have jewinsh blood
