306 sump plug

Hi, Iam trying to change the oil in my 306. The sump plug square fitting is very rounded. The only way to undo the sump plug, is to use a socket . Anyone know what size socket it is ? the largest I have is 21m/m .

21mm sounds about right, it is on my Citroens anyway.

I agree - my son's 306 is 21mm - I know this as I had to buy a socket for it.
It is the same one for my C5 too.

Best to fit a new washer as they are said to leak at the drop of a hat.
I didn't and my son's hasn't leaked and it has been done four times now, always forget the new washer.
Mine doesn't leak either and the washer is gone, anybody's guess where, still doesn't leak.

I have a stock of washers for that very eventuality but the usual cause of washers failing is that they are done up much to tight. Tighten it with a spanner rather than a socket and then don't overdo it.

TU Petrol (8 valve) can be 24mm with a square recess inside.

The washers on these are rubber ringed too.
