406 roof rails 2001

Post by Elderton »

Is it a relatively straight forward job to remove these? They are in a poor state & want to have them powder coated.
Thanks

Is this the estate ?

I have a suspicion the factory ones are actually bolted on from under the headlining (although it should not be bad to carefully pull a little bit out and look)

The aftermarket ones that run across (left / right) are bolted / clamped on from what I remember. The 'black' or near black ones running front / back on the estate are as above, if I remember.

Hello,
My rails are (I mean were) in a poor state and have been transformed by a couple of cans of matt black auto paint and a bit of sandpapering. Rather than faff about trying to remove the rails , which is probably the usual nightmare of fighting the headlining, I carefully masked them off with newspaper and tape. A couple of coats of paint and they look as good as new. Hope this may be of some help,

All the best,
John.
