Service history
Do Citroen keep a centralised service history, i.e., I have a C5 with no history although it seems to have been well maintained, can I hope to get its history from a Citroen dealer. G.

I was lucky when I bought my year 2001 Xantia in mid 2009.
It was a one-owner, always serviced by the same main dealer.
I got it from an independent dealer who had been passed it from a main dealer. Too old for the main dealer's forecourt, I suppose.
This independent dealer is on good terms with the main dealer and so was able to get a full print-out of all work done since the car was new.
Two things this print-out showed were:
how expensive main dealer routine servicing is
how much service replacement is over-the-top (eg 8 new pollen filters at £26 or so each in 8 years and a total mileage of 36100).
The last service, at 36100 miles in April 2009, mentions that the garage considered the clutch to need replacing. I guess the associated costs were too much for the owner, who traded the car in. It's now at 66000 miles and the clutch, never changed, is fine. Perhaps I'd better touch wood!).

A Citroen dealer will only be able to tell you what servicing has been done at main dealers. Often is the case that when cars reach 3 years old they fall out of dealer servicing and go to independents, which is no bad thing.
