Laguna reversing lights

My car is a 56 plate 1.9DCI Sport Tourer. Recently the reversing lights would only work intermittantly, I know this cos' I reverse daily up to my garage door, now they've stopped working alltogether :roll:
I've checked the fuse, the bulbs, and the connections at the lamp holders and all is ok, so that leaves me with the switch to check, I'm guessing it's on the gearbox near the linkage, can anyone confirm this? it's all very congested under the flippin' bonnet with all these covers in place, so I only want the remove the ones I have to.
