406 Radio

Unread post by DHallworth »

Does anyone have a picture of a 406 dashboard with the radio removed?

When I got my 406 it had an aftermarket radio fitted to it.

I removed it and fitted the genuine radio back to it however it looks like the cage is missing or something as it doesn't locate. Most radio's I've seen appear to have a metal cage type thing on the centre console that they slide into. There's nothing on this one at all.

I can see something on Service Box with the part number 656069 but it's a fairly useless picture so can't tell if this is what I need or not.

Thanks

David.

Just looked both shapes are the same regarding the 656069. It is called 'Radio Bracket' and is what you need from your description.

Here's a pic of D9 (newer shape, typically V plate or newer) , item 3 is the bracket.

Thanks Andy.

I thought it might be but the one on the car looks nothing like that I don't believe.

Fingers crossed it's right as I've just ordered one!

You're welcome. I could of probably found you one for nothing if you could of waited a couple of weeks, although I bet postage etc (unless the postie squashed it) would negate any 'saving'

Its what I would of obtained anyway. :) As far as I'm aware that's it for a standard stock unit.

As you have / had an aftermarket one then you may have a plastic surround too (not on that diagram as its in the 'extras / accessories' thing, forget the proper name now) , first shape needed them usually as the factory units were about DIN 1.5 in height if I remember correctly, think of a similar thing to 'fix' the shaped hole in a 306 if you know what I mean. The 'factory fitted' radio's do not need this in 90% of cases depending on what was fitted.

Anyway see how you go, I think that 'cage' is all you need, if I remember correctly its not standard DIN so you cannot use it with aftermarket (hence why it was not present)

EDITED to fix excess typos
