S1 Anti-Sink issue...

Post by P616VKX »

When I took my car in for brake pads the other day, I thought, I know what I'll do, I'll show Phil what a Xantia can do... Car on High, Axle stands underneath, car on low, wheels will lift up... They didn't.

The car dropped onto the stands, but then wouldn't pull the front wheels up. Is this normal for an anti-sink or not?

Stuart.

I might be wrong, but I presume the weight of the car is what causes the car to sink.

the front wheels will pull themselves up, i would think its worn ARB bushes as its the ARB that pushes them up

It's not the front wheels lifting that makes them clear the ground but the fact that the rear sinks right down and causes the car body to pivot about the axle stands and thus it appears the fronts are rising.

On going from high to low, the front wheels, free in the air as it were, will drop down to their lowest point on the suspension travel.

Microsoft tried to install IE9 on my laptop last night.
The other rubbish that infected my machine from them has put a cross through the network icon making it appear that I am not connected to the Intertubes when I R.

Must be a punishment for rejecting IE9.

I like IE9 Steve...

Looks like they've had a good look at Opera and copied the best bits of it   :D

It's fast and uncluttered. Not a statement you could ever make of IE8.

So far, it looks good...

I'm a great believer that finally Microsoft are getting their act togeter. Win7 is great as is Windows 2008 Server.. IE9 I hope is following that tradition...

If one side of a Xantia is jacked up then both the front and wheels will lift up/retract into the wheelarch but if both front or rear wheels are lifted off the ground at the same time then the weight of the hub's/wheels causes them to drop down.
