ZX Driveline Shunt

Post by tim leech »

Ohherr

My little ZX 1.4 Temptation is a sweet little car and drives well, however when i take my foot on and off the gas there seems quite alot of "shunt" and the gearlever jumps about a bit

Any ideas? I take it engine mounts are shot?

Hi Tim -

Yes the ZX is a nice little runner.
Had one in the family stable until recently (shunted by a huge 4x4 something that cut in right in front of my son in law  )

Its quite easy to check the engine mounts :
Take a firm grip on the rocker cover and rock the engine as hard as you can.
It must not move, but should stay firmly in its mountings.
You will have the usual PSA upper mountings each side and the lower mounting near the steering axle end.
No big problem replacing as DIY.

Will take a look, I imagined it would be a rubber mount thats had it.
