I might have, but don't believe, have posted before on this subject...
But, has anyone any links to French films in monochrome?
They don't have to be really ancient stuff, but the more obscure the better.
And not necessarily auto-orientated, either.
For example, there was a film I once saw that involved a couple in a car who broken down at the side of a road somewhere, who were squabbling over God knows what, and got embroiled in some wide story that led who knows where...
Nothing special, just off beat, unknown-ish stuff, would be appreciated.
Cheers.

The only monochrome one I can think of at the moment is one I have on DVD, "La Fille Sur Le Pont" starring Vanessa Paradis.Napoleon wrote:I might have, but don't believe, have posted before on this subject...

Hmm, might try that. I reckon I have a lot of catching up to do with film watching.
Anyway, I've been searching on Amazon for similar stuff and found this one, or rather I found it on the IMDB:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046268/
I believe it's one of those 'obscure' French films played on C4 many years ago. I hope so, as I have now ordered a copy!
Cheers, and good viewing to anyone who's interested.
ps, there's another cult-ish film I saw a long time ago about a phone box that locked people in and they were taken away by a lorry and the box was replaced by another into which the next victim would step... This film, I think, was in Spanish. Anyone seen that?

Have you seen this list of 100 best foreign language films?
There are a few interesting ones on there.
I realised that I have "Cinema Paradiso" here, never watched it, it came free with something or other.
I do enjoy French films though, so different from the Hollywood lashups.
Watched "Chocolat" last week, having avoided it for so long as it has Judi Dench in it and I can't abide her.
Excellent! and she wasn't too objectionable. Even Mr. Paradis was reasonably sane in it. He would have been another obstacle to seeing it if I had known that he was in it.
Not French but The Seventh Seal might be something for you.
I still need to get the "Three Colours" trilogy.
And "Purgatory" from the trilogy "Heaven", "Hell" and "Purgatory"
Supposedly made in Poland and a very few copies available.
Only "Hell" is French but is superb, as is Heaven (Italian) All written and produced by the Polish pair Krzysztof Kieslowski and Krzysztof Piesiewicz, also responsible for the aforementioned "Three Colours"
Unfortunately Kieslowski died before completion of Purgatory which kind of scuppered it.
