Not a poll!
Paris, my 405 Mi16, desperately needs a rear muffler. The centre section is a somewhat dodgy fabrication as well.
What I'm pondering, is whether the PSA parts are worth the extra dosh, or (for that matter) whether the Bosal stuff is worth the airfreight.
Experiences, anecdotes, opinions invited.
Cheers, Adam.

I have always stuck with Bosal exhausts for the XMs, ive had a few now. One I got for an XM had to be replaced twice within a few weeks of fitting as the muffler was rattling.
Other than that ive not had any problems.
Our old Renault 4 would go through a front box every year, which was a Bosal item, we then got hold of a Renault exhaust and it lasted and lasted.
I dont think there is anything better than genuine items, but Bosal is not too bad.

I'd reccomend a local fabricator to be honest as the prices out your way Adam would scare me silly with the shipping ontop a good fabricator shouldn't cost more than about £400 for a full manifold back system including a good cat and be stainless good grade steel so should last a long while. Do they tend to rust inside out or outside in down your way??
In my experience exhausts last longer on diesels than petrol and Bosal have always lasted well on the Xantia. I replaced the back box last year, the one that came off was Bosal and was at least 5 years old !

We bought a Bosal exhaust for a 306 HDi from AEP in Glasgow.
The quality of it was a disgrace.
The flanges on the centre section weren't welded on straight... we had to spend time cutting the flange off carefully, lining it up perfectly and then welding it on again.
For something that's supposed to be an off the shelf fit I thought that was awful.
We're lucky now that we've got all the kit we need to start fabricating our own stainless steel exhausts.
David.
