Boxer 1997 2.5 non turbo New Owner Any Advice

Post by shaunlfc1 »

Evening all,

Looks like I will be acquiring a 1997 2.5n/a high roof lwb Boxer this weekend. Well on the proviso it all checks out and is not a wreck.

It has covered a genuine 51k miles, flew through its last MOT last month.

Just wandering if anyone knows what to look for on these vans/engine etc... etc...

Also can anyone confirm whether it is likely to have P.A.S? I'll find out Saturday, just wandering if anyone can give me a heads up.

Cheers for all your help,

Shaun

Only just seen this.

Probably will have PAS, as far as I know only the early ones and only the 1.9 had it optional.

The 2.5 unit I think is the older 505 based block, although I'm not too sure. Spares are likely to be more than the 1.9 unit anyway.

No worries thanks for that bit of info. I assumed it has P.A.S even though its 14 years old, still modern enough for a biggish lump like the 2.5 and on a van to have P.A.S I would think.

Cheers.....

I think that the engine will be a DJ5 unit.
A simpler version of the DK5 fitted to 2.5TD XM's and the odd Pug 605.
Three or four different variants of the van DJ engine over the years.

Any idea if these vans are RWD or FWD? My monies on FWD, would make doing the cambelt a little more trickier!

Thanks....
