clutch on c5 2.2hdi
Hi, been thinking the clutch on the c5 is a bit high at the biting point. Am I correct in thinking there will be no adjustment? It's not slipping but done 100k, I have had car for 3 yrs and done 50k of these miles, a few of them towing. Am in the middle of a debate whether to change this car, or keep it forever. I recon it's worth in the region of £1500ish, If the clutch went would probably be more for a new clutch fitted than the car is worth. I presume it would need a clutch kit and a dmf, or replacement solid flywheel. Which would be the best option? I do not have the equipment or knowledge to do this so would need the garage at £50 per hour at least. Other option, sell soon and replace, then that opens up new debate on what to get next and it could be as knackered it costs a fortune as well.

Depends how much you like the car and how reliable / good its been to you. , I'd say keep it for a few more years myself.
I would advise a replacement solid flywheel if possible though as you'd probably need a new (expensive) DMF at clutch time anyway, it is reasonably likely. A solid one should not need changing again where as a DMF one might want doing at the next clutch change. Others will be able to tell you about the pro's / con's of a solid replacement as a few people here have done that.
I'm not really familiar with the 2.2 units although they should be as strong as the 2.0 which are already well proven at starship mileages as these have the XUD block more or less, again a well proven unit. The only thing I hear about the 2.2 (I think) is the injector sleeves can rust in place so much that a new head could be needed if you had to take an injector out, but I'd have to research that. I think it stems from water ingress into them and they have probably been all redesigned / modified now anyway and only effects some models, possibly not yours it might only be the MPV
