AL4 fault and firmware version

Post by lancia58 »

When I connected my Lexia 3 to my Citroen Xantia 2.0 16v make year 2000 I read the following fault: “Display serial supply short to earth or open circuit”.
I saw this error couple of times before and cleared it. Does anyone know the source for this fault ? Can it effect the AL4 behavior ? I also read the AL4 firmwar eversion and got the following:
Supp: 004 Sys: 091 App: 002 Ver: 004 Version: 0305 Download date: 1/1/06
The download date seems weird since the car make year is 2000 and as long as I know the first the AL4 was first introduced in 1998. Anyway is there a newer version for the AL4, can it be downloaded with the Lexia or only othorised dealer can do it ? What is the earliest version that is suitable for the Borg Warner valves ?

Thanks

0305 is from memory, the last update for petrol Xantia AL4 boxes.

It will run the later electrovalves fine if they aren't already fitted.

The fault is likely unrelated to driving quality - was it in the transmission faults?

I reconnected my Lexia 3 and I got again the “Display serial supply short to earth or open circuit” and a new one "Gearbox input speed", in spite of the "Gearbox input speed" fault , I don't feel any change in the gear behavior. Is the "Gearbox input speed" a fault should be taken care for ?

Thanks

It's the input speed sensor, a device that's inserted from outside the gearbox near the speedometer drive.

I have had this one; checked for continuity and it was OK so I cleaned both halves of the plug with a generous spray of Servisol contact cleaner and reassembled. Been fine since.
