Really struggling with this

It worked previously.

Any did a complete wipe of computer. Got rid of all my win2000 stuff and did new install of xp.

Installed Lexia. But it simply doesn't work.

Plugging in the diagnosis unit the green light lights for split second. Sure it used to remain lighted.

New hardware was detected requiring usb com board driver (multiple?)

Allowed search of disc and says installed okay.

Yet starting lexia with hardware plugged in it instantly crashes with "bad pool" error. Needs chkdsk after.

Trying without hardware in says file missing.

Really fed up and totally lost. Worked before??

Wondering if I corrupted hardware software if possible.

Help would be appreciated.

Unplug Lexia.

Find another USB device (usb memory stick or something) , try that to ensure that does work.

If it does not download chipset / usb drivers from manufacturers site. With Via they are sometimes called 'all in one' but that can vary.

Examine device manager (My Computer > right click) > Manage > Device Manager for hardware issues.

Yeah. Replaced all drivers. Tried to get driver from Actia website but can't find it.

The strange thing is that it worked okay before. This is why I am wondering if there is onboard software that can be corrupted in the lexia. Hope not.

Notice the file on my disc corresponds with a forumite on a garage forum. Will ask him.

Well that was a waste of £130 . And here was me thinking this would allow me to avoid more Citroen related costs but when I need it... Well.

Back to garage tomorrow.

Getting close the being a Ford.

you're not running it through a hub are you? as i imagine the lexia dongle will be pulling a fair draw on the usb hub and will be very close to the 1200ma it is allowed to provide.

No directly into usb on computer. Installed on desktop just to check. Crashed all the same. Occassionaly asks for driver. I allowed automatic install.

Annoying thing was that it worked a couple weeksago. I just packed. Away and got out this time to look at STOP warning and voila. Nowt. Just when I actually need it.

I see more expensive trial and error garaging coming up. 2 cars requiring hundreds of quids worth of repairs every 2 months is not sustainable anymore. One car like this then bad car, two? Well bad quality.

hmmmm, is there any USB error shown on the desktop, such as power surge?

otherwise i'm thinking the dongle itself is dead beacause if the computer can "see" it enough to recognise it needs drivers but the lexia cannot initilize it to me it points to the unit being faulty as the connection between the PC and the lexia is of course USB so only 4 pins which are 5v data+ data- and Ground. If either of those pins wasnt working i don't see that the PC could recognise the device to install the drivers.

It blie screens with an error which does not stay onscreen longnenough to read.

When asking for driver it asks for: usb com board driver (multi-instance)

When It dies, it says something about Bad_pool_header and a bunch of stuff.

The error codes ( i think) are:

0x00000019, (0x8202228, 0x82022a28, 0x82022a68, 0x14080008)

This sounds like it may be a hardware fault in the laptop.

Reinstall Windows and then, before installing the Lexia software, try a few USB devices such as cameras, MP3 players, USB sticks, etc. If you get the same (or similar problems) then the laptop is at fault.

A quick Google for 'bad pool header' does not really help.

Try less USB devices if possible. I wonder if a XP update has broken it.

If you do not use the laptop to go online at all:

Install XP afresh, do not install anything else. Do not connect to the internet at all. Now install the Lexia.

if you've tried it on 2 machines i think it has to be a faulty code reader
