Unread post by froggy »

Hi, While driving my Xantia 1997 td . today , I had a sudden loss of power ,
The accelerator will go straight to the floor with little power . when you get it up to 70 m.p.h. it"s fine and drives ok . could it be the accelerator cable or maybe the turbo ! any help gratfully received

Check the action of the accelerator lever on the pump when someone floors it.
Check all jubilee clips around induction pipes, and also check the rubber pipe that goes to the UFO on top of the fuel pump, that is prone to splitting.

Xantia loss of power

The Accelerator cable passes through a bracket and into the fuel pump lever . At the bracket there is a metal washer , should there be a spring clip or r clip to hold it in place . What is this missing piece called ? it"s the reason for my loss of power .anyone got any ideas what Iam missing ?
cheers Terry.

Yes there should be a circlip round the cable end which allows you to take out the slack, it fits in the appropriate grove for your adjustment. You cna possibly make one by cutting the side out of a washer.
