Matrix Supplier Suggestions Needed

Post by addo »

Not having any joy with the £18.50 supplier - he's just not clued into selling to anyone outside the UK.

Any suggestions for cost-effective suppliers of a compatible matrix to 6448.80, preferably European made? GSF don't say where theirs are made or what brand.

I'm pretty sure GSF supply Valeo ones. The last one I saw that came from GSF was AVA so maybe they do both?

Presumably you have 'ebay' in Australia, that's where I get most of my bits.

Hi Peter, I can tell you right now that there are NO Xantia heater matrices on Oz Ebay. And Lexi, REPCO stands for "Ripping Every Poor C*** Off"... Local price for a matrix over the counter, is close on what many members' cars here would sell for on the UK market. Not joking, either.

Toby illustrated well, the problem I face - GSF are working to a margin and with their own part numbers can change supplier on a whim.

Ah right, not ever having run a Xantia in Australia I didn't know that. What would be the cost of postage from here?

They get cheaper if one buys more and repackages "top and tail" with only a layer of cardboard between.

The best supply price I have received so far, is $400/four (£260) delivered for Valeo, ironically through an American supplier who sends them direct from a UK subsidiary. Nissens units are 1/3 cheaper but I have no idea on their quality.

Nissens should be OK. Their radiators seem satisfactory...

$400 !!

.... I bought my car in Feb,... , with a promise from the elderly gent who sold it to me, $20k had been spent on a whole list of major items in the last 3 years ,...supported by receipts ( albeit ODD looking in their reference to the veh repaired),.. I have already discovered most of that was bull.... $400+ for the heater will bring the total to near $20k I have spent !!! just as well I'm in love ! ..... with the V6..

Hi Addo

Try an email enquiry to Richard at Boston Rads.
Contact details can be picked up by clicking on sellers details in ebay adv (230441958805).
He supplied me a batch of XM ones for £18 ea last year.
He also mentioned that he rated Nissen cores as better quality the spanish ones used by Valeo.

Derek, you're not reading it right. $400 lands four of the buggers on my front doormat, so $100/pop.

John, is that Boston as in the Stump and people ambling about saying 'ello duck? I will try the contact you mention; comparative info such as that you offered is very much appreciated.

As in the stump.
Richard makes specials but has supply contacts to get good priced standards.
Does well packed postal items and tries hard to help.

After an initial prompt reply I heard no further from Richard, and late Thursday ordered from Schlockauto. So, we have an American company selling Danish parts to Australia from a UK warehouse...

I bought four of the Nissens units; price was quite amenable in that quantity.

Going to study my spare dash to see if there is an even quicker way to lift it off the firewall. Got some ideas but not 100% on feasibility.
