tevis abs on xantia s1

Unread post by citroenxm »

Hi all..

The problem is actually on my v6 xantia s1. But as its abs its a general xantia thing not v6 specific.

Problem: abs light on as useual.

Ok.. So i have fitted a pair if known good sensors.. Iv also fitted a rear sensor on the drivers side.. Connected lexia as the abs light is still on. To get the following.

No faults on the lexia fault read. However. Both front sensors are showing a speed though the car obviously is not moving. Rears show zero. If i go into the parameter readings and with the rear jacked up the known working rear sensors do NOT show a reading if i spin a wheel.

So. Do i have an ecu problem or crap wires on the car some where? Or is it such a setup it needs the car to go over 10mph before it resets? This sort of thing is not needed on early 1993/4 xantias....ive found..

Any positive ideas?

Cheers

Paul,

As far as I know, the ABS light should go out when reset (i.e. by erasing faults) by the Lexia. It won't go out so long as the Lexia remains connected and is interrogating the ECU as far as I recall..

Does the Lexia actually say there are faults remaining?

A wheel apparently still moving when stopped normally means the sensor is a bit iffy. Did you fit new ones or second-hand ones?

Are the reluctor rings clean and rust free?

Hi jim... I thought that was the case for the light to go out on resistance test... All sensors are good now.. The front sensors are from a 1997 P playe sx td... So they are effectly the same age.. They worked perfectly on the td they were on...

The lexia now records no faults on the reading... Ive just got this speed figure showing on both front ones...

I was also curious why also lexia wouldnt show a reading when i spun a rear wheel.. Im beginning to think the ecu is toast....

...just had my fair share of ABS recently - had to have front and rear sensors put on my Activa.

Did both rears on my TD last year  , defo glad it's a fronter this time.
Well actually, they are NOT as bad if you lower the subframe on the side your working on, makes it sooooo much easyer to get at the plug ontop of the subframe...

I've got a pair of seriously well long nose pliers. We're talking around a foot and half for the whole length!
Its one of those tools I bought wondering where I'd ever use it to, come in handy on several occasions.
