Strange light above Handbrake light

Unread post by lazza »

Dear Forum

I have a strange yellow light with like a bulb half full of liquid appearing on my dashboard lights, right above the (P) handbrake light.

The books dont mention it, so I'm a bit confused.

Anyone know what it is?

Cheers
Larry

Low washer fluid level I think...

Does the car have headlight washers?

Sorry, I'm talking a load of old spheres there Larry...

It's your water in diesel warning lamp...

This was only fitted to very early diesel Xantias and normally indicates the presence of water in your diesel filter housing.

It's a good idea to swap the diesel filter and drain out the filter housing.

This light is a bit good at doing false positives and is not really needed. If it comes on again after replacing the filter and draining the housing, simply pull the electrical plug on the side of the filter housing. It'll never come on again then...

Pleased to hear the car is going well :D

Yes the later ones do not have this sensor. A blanking screw is fitted instead.

I'd do as Jim says, empty the filter bowl out and replace the filter if needed then see if the light comes on, if it does just unplug the sensor as sometimes they seem to break and stay on permanently once they have been activated even though they should not.

As we said not fitted to later XUD units anyway.

Colour of the lamp indicates the serious-ness of the condition..

Orange, not so serious
Red Emergency - theres no inbetween warning.

Hence ABS being orange, brakes still work, but not the Panic braking control though.
