Activa pricey insurance

Unread post by holmedog »

Does anybody know any good places to get cheap car insurance for the Activa as mine has gone up so much this year even though i have full no claims,nd points and am 35 years old

I have checked out all the usual "gocompare" and all that and they come back with silly quotes.

Anybody any advice .

many thanks

In general insurance is on an increase, most people are finding insurance going up dramatically. I certainly am.

Possibly try some brokers, though usually comparison sites are a good place to get an idea.

Recently quoted around £840 fully comp for an Activa and two TDs with Admiral multicar, I'm 34, full no claims and no points.
Course due to timing I've had to pay monthly which works out at £87 a month.

I've always found Admiral or their alternate Elephant to be the cheapest when i've looked for individual policies in the last few years.

I'll second that!

I have used admiral and Bell in the past (both the same company) and they were very good for price. I never needed to use them for a claim but they did seem helpful about other things like swapping cars etc.

My Activa is the same to insure as my C5, so I wouldn't say the Activa is unnecessarily expensive.

Ive just had a quote for the activa fully comp of £340 with limited miles though, it will only do 3-4k a year.
Was from yes car insurance via the meerkat, and no i have never heard of them either.
Currently with Admiral at the same price as my Xm too but then the xm is a silly high insurance rating something like 14 or 15 i think.

It gets a lot cheaper when you get over fifty and can use companies like Saga, who can offer really good deals to BOFs like me! Something for you to look forward to.

Have you tried some of the other companies that offer multi-car policies or some of the classic car insurances?

Not sure if my Activa would qualify as a classic as it is a 1999 t plate.

Saga's quotes have always been far more than the average for me and they never sent the promised pen.

They do send a letter at least once a month, been going on for over then years now.

Always chuck them away unopened now.

Two things which help here when approaching an "enthusiast's insurer", are having a track licence and belonging to a marque club. In the former's case, the cheapest licence saves you about double on a policy, what it costs to renew the permit!

Cheers, Adam.

Last time I insured the Activa I did it with Swift Cover..... were MUCH cheaper than others. Still with them now for the XM. I always shop around.

I'm 41 (that should be 30-11  ) with full no claims so a bit older than you :(

I'm 28 with 8 Years no claims, and my 2000/V Activa is £400 a year to insure with Admiral (Got £100 discount with multicar thing). Put down around 5000 miles a year as i do less now with practically living in town.
