remote keyfob 406 hdi?

Post by deano1970 »

hi,
I am in the process of buying a 406 hdi 2001...... te guy doesn't seem to know much about it so am going to ask this question on here. On the remote keyfob there is a large button that locks/unlocks the doors, then there is a small button that lights up a little red light on the fob but as far as i could see, didn't seem to actually have a purpose? im sure someone on here will know? cheers.....also, its a y reg, just short of 13 months mot on it and cheap tax band, very tidy condition inside, couple of little scratches on the outside but nothing much, really nice, silver, wanted 895, i offered him 840 which he took, good buy? 165,000 on the clock....thats fine as my xantia was still going strong when i sold that with 208,000 on the clock

I thought on Peugeots it was the big button to lock and the small to unlock? Though its not doing that.

Deadlocks and alarm on the second/smaller button.

just seems to be the big button.I had a go myself, although I havent got the car yet,i will try the second/small button after locking to see if that deadlocks it. my xantia used to deadlock the doors using the same button but not sure with peugeot

It depends what type of key you have.

On a Y reg it should have the earlier key. The big button with the lion emblem on it and the smaller button in the corner.

Large button locks/unlocks. Small button deadlocks the car but only after locking.

If you have the later squarer key with padlock symbols then the large button locks when pressed and then you keep it held down to deadlock. The smaller button unlocks.

I was going to say that my 'Y' reg estate only has one button, press once to open and again to lock, I didn't realise that the small circle was a button, I don't know what its for either. Doesn't mention it in the handbook, mind you it doesn't mention anything about an auxiliary heater - but its got one

Good price, I paid £950 for my estate last year and I thought that was good, it had done nearly 190k though, its done a few thousand more now, nice car , electric seats, sat nav and all that.
