Steering’s been a bit jerky first thing ………… suspension a little on the erratic side. Did the biz – hydrorincauge, new spheres all round (including accumulator), etc, etc when forst got the car – improved but didn’t cure all the problems. Still, I decided to live with it ‘cos she’s a beautiful car…………..sound familiar?
Then, today, in line with my progressive replacement of lifed parts (I’ve had the car 6 weeks now, OK?) I replace the pump drivebelt …………………………… sudden and total cure of the above problems. Lourdes – walking on water – Lazarus!!!!! [:p][:p][:p]
Close inspection revealed highly polished areas on the belt driving faces where, obviously, considerable slippage had been occurring. However, this was of such a high frequency that the usual audible cues were absent. Replacing the belt restored full-time drive to the pump and has rejuvenated the hydraulic system on my BX………learn something new every day, don’t you? [:I]
Now here’s a new one on me…………….
