Has anyone ever had their V6 engine LPG'd and do you have any advice regarding this?

hi Chris.. kind of..

I am taking an awful long time to lpg my V6.. i just cant seem to finish the job off...

I think steelcityUK may have done some LPG stuff..

Whats on your mind ?

I'm thinking the V6's thirst for petrol (although comparatively good) and the cost of the petrol that LPG would be a good option to consider, i know very little about LPG and am looking for guidence, which kits to look at or installers etc....

It's certainly been done on a V6 before with great effect - Roger Bradford's V6 was LPG converted and worked absolutely fine.

My PRV V6 XM was - well, is on LPG.. its wonderfull.. you get V6, well with PRV V8, growl, with performance, and XUD economy..

Well, I did on my XM. I had a basic Single point Kit on the car, and she still returned 40mpg equivilant...

As for the PSA engine, they are common for whats called "Spit Back" were basically the whole inlet manifold on a single point setup is full of LPG... so its recomended a nice modern Multi Point injection setup is put on... which should see you 45mpg equivilent..

I am fitting a multi point to mine.. PRINS V i think... the kit comes with 6 Kehin gas injectors, a 'dummy' ECU that makes the engine ECU think its still firing petrol injectors, and a larger LPG ECU which presumably does some of the functions of the Main petrol ECU.. timing, fueling etc..
also,
A toridal boot mounted tank in place of the spare wheel (406 coupe V6), a filler cap in the Offside rear bumper..
etc etc

I would expect the kit to be around £6-900 new :O ... be careful about the 2nd hand route (which I am doing) as the laws a bit different this year

saying that ...I may know of another V6 systemf or sale, already fitted on a coupe...

I would hope that careful driving would get the equivalent MPG to around 40 from 26 at the moment...

I had a Bigas kit on my XM TCT. Ian Brierley owns it now.

A modern sequential multipoint would be nice on a V6. These take more fitting but provide better economy (maybe power) and don't spit back, that can cause damage. Such a kit will cost a lot even if DIY fitted. Be careful who you deal with, there's some real horror stories about 'approved' fitters. Tinley Tech import and support Bigas, they answered my various questions despite the kit already being fitted when I bought the car. Most kits are made in Italy by a handful of companies.

Stag kits were being sold cheap but I don't know how good these are.

Prins are regarded by many to be the best, partly because of the injectors used.
