Xantia switches

Post by Philjw »

Is it common for thr Xantia accessory switches to jam?
Is it possible to get into them to repair them?
As I remember the rear screen heater should be a push on push off affair. Mine now does nothing. The brightness of the lamp seems to increase if the button is pressed with the side lights on, so it seems that there is voltage at the switch.
This is in the 97 TD Estate. How do I get the switch out of the dash?

Hi Phil,
The heated rear window switch is a push to turn on and push to turn off again, it is also on a timer of around 10 minutes (more likely longer though) it doesn't click and stay in like on the BX. As for removing it, well, you can try to sprise it out carefully, the front of the switch will come off, then using a small screwdriver you can get into the recess and carefully sprise each side out, but BE CAREFULL
Regards

Have you tried contact cleaner? I've found on my BX that often I can restore switch function with a good application of this stuff and often the cure seems permanent.
Get it from Maplins or other electronic/electrical supplier!

Rear window timer? My 1998 Xantia switch is not on a timer. Once on it stays on until I push to turn it off.
