Q: Bosh pump part under shielding

Post by lukkis »

Hello All,
new to this forum, however browsed quite heavily before joining

What is the part with a red circle? It is located under the antitheft module on a Bosch pump of a Xantia 1.9 TD -98 (S-reg?). I've been taking the immobilizer rip-off course (with the pump insitu) and this part broke :( I used too much force, without noting the pipe cotter-pin on the engine side... Is it a kind of adjustment screw? And if so, what does it adjust and would it be harmful having it freely on place?

Another look, still in the antitheft shielding of the pump:

That part is known as the Maximum Fuel adjustment screw. As long as the seal is still good, the pump should run ok.

Allright, thanks! It was as I suspected, while calming down in the evening. But it is never wrong to get another opinion too.
I think I'll seal it up with some hot glue just in case.

I'm not sure hot glue would be suitable for a fuel device that's exposed to the heat of an engine.

If the pump is off the car and 10 years old or more, you might want to consider replacing the seals and that adjuster at the same time.

There's a huge amount of detailed guides and instructions written by other DIY'ers on the internet.
